- Newspaper Obituary - May 22, 1940 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Julia Van Alstyne Dies In Pulaski - Mrs. Julia A. Van Alstyne, 79, widow of Guy Van Alstyne, died late Thursday evening at the home of her brother, Orin Coon on Port St. She had been in failing health since January. Mrs. Van Alstyne was born, in Richland, December 22, 1860, daughter of Peter and Lydia Orton Coon. Most of her life was spent in Sandy Creek and Richland. She was an active member of the Richland Methodist Episcopal church. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Edward Chawgo, of Pulaski, three brothers, Orin Coon, Willis Coon of Kasoag and Frank Coon of Syracuse. Private prayer services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 from the Coon residence here and public services at 2:30 from the Richland Methodist church, Rev. Charles T. Martin officiated, assisted by Rev. W.A. Gardner. Burial was in Sandy Creek cemetery.
