Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, March 18, 1936 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Richland Man Dies After Long Illness ¬C. J. Obleman Former Railroad Man - Christopher J. Obleman, 54, died at his home in Richland, Saturday. He had been an invalid for more than five years. Mr. Obleman was born in Oneida county, July 21, 1881, a son of John and Mary Shutts Obleman, coming to Richland with his parents when a child of three, and had since resided there. He was a retired railroad man, commencing at the age of 15 as a water boy at the old Centerville gravel pit, and continuing with the New York Central until injured in a fall from an engine in the Watertown engine house in May, 1930, when he was forced to retire. He was a member of the Richland Methodist church, Richland lodge of I. 0. 0. F., and the Brotherhood of Railroad Firemen and Engineers No. 212 of Watertown. Surviving are the widow, Martha Gardner Obleman; two sons, Charles and Nelson; a daughter, Mrs. Ivan Scriber, all of Richland; two brothers, Miles, of Rainbow Shores, and John of Oneida and a sister, Mrs. Fred Hall of Richland. The funeral was private at the home yesterday afternoon, Rev. H. H. Barnard of Mexico, a former pastor of the Richland church, and Rev. Frank H. Brown, of Richland, officiating. The Watertown chapter of the Railroad Brotherhood of Firemen and Engineers, will be in charge of the service at the local cemetery.
