    • Harriet Louise "Hattie" Bowers Martin - May 15, 1888 - August 28, 1976. Daughter of Frank and Emma Nichols Bowers. Wife of Edward D. Martin.

      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, September 1, 1976 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Hattie L. Martin, 88, of Centerville Road, Richland died on Saturday afternoon, August 28, at the House of Good Samaritan Hospital, Watertown where she had been a patient for two weeks. She was born on May 15, 1888 in the Town of Albion, the daughter of Frank and Emma Nichols Bowers. She attended school in the Town of Albion and was married to Edward D. Martin who died in 1960. Mrs. Martin was employed at the Depot Restaurant in Richland and by Walker's and Rainbow Shores Restaurants. She also owned and operated a small restaurant in Richland for several years. In previous years, she worked at the old basket factory in Richland. She was a member of the Richland Church of Christ. Surviving are: five sons, William D. of Richland with whom she lived for the past several years, Fred, Robert and Harry of Richland and Edward of Mattydale; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Gladys) Stevens of Richland, Mrs. Hollis (Dorothy) Weed of Pennellville, Mrs. Wyan (Doris) Taplin of Richland and Mrs. Edward (Evelyn) Hilton of Fulton; 57 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Perkins of Rome, New York and Mrs. Lula Tickman of Rochester. One son, Mannister Martin died in 1948 and one daughter, Rosemary died at 5 years. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 31 at 2 p.m. at the Richland Church of Christ with the Rev. Gerald Brownell officiating. Funeral arrangements were made by the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Burial was in Richland Cemetery.
