- Newspaper Obituary - March 22, 2002 Syracuse Post Standard - Syracuse, New York - EDWARD F. MARTIN - Edward F. Martin, 83, of Totman Road, North Syracuse, died Thursday. Born in Richland, he lived in Mattydale 15 years; Melbourne, Fla., six years; and had also lived in Oswego before moving to North Syracuse in 2000. He retired in 1988 as a maintenance supervisor at Castle Rest Nursing Home in Syracuse after 22 years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2320 in Oswego and had been a member of the VFW in Mattydale and Florida. He was a former member of United Church of Christ in Richland. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in Europe. Survivors: His wife of 35 years, the former Adeline LaBarge; five daughters, Karen and Ann Peterson, both of Baldwinsville, Lystie Hayes of Florida, Sherry Gorman of Kirkwood and Christine Hughes of Kernersville, N.C.; a son, Robert Marturano of North Syracuse; a sister, Dorothy Weed of Caughdenoy; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson. Services: 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Krueger Funeral Home. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale.
