Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 6, 1971 The Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Richland - Carl R. Mowers, 57, of Richland, died Tuesday in Veterans Administration Hospital, Syracuse, after a lengthy illness. He was bom October 15, 1913 in Albion, son of Burton and Anna Mowers, and was educated in Altmar and Parish schools. In August 1940 he married Dorothy Muir in Femwood and most of their married life was spent in Richland. He was employed as a truck driver by the Penn Central Railroad for 32 years. He was a member of the Altmar American Legion Post 1435 and Cable VFW Post 8532 in Lacona and also the Richland Volunteer Fire Department. Besides his wife he is survived by a son Charles (Duff) Mowers, Richland; two grandchildren; three brothers, John of Syracuse, Martin of Pulaski, and Clare of Fonda, and three sisters, Mrs. Francis (Hilda) Sweeney, Altmar, Mrs. William (Frances) Rozonkiewiecz, Fonda. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Taylor-Vida Funeral Home in Pulaski, the Rev. George Butler, pastor of North Scriba Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
