- MRS. ORLA S. POTTER
Hattie Pond, wife of Orla S. Potter, who passed away at her home, 119 Pleasant avenue, Syracuse, New York, on Monday, February 24, 1913, was the daughter of Benjamin F. Pond, one of the highly esteemed residents of our village for many years. Mr. Pond was foreman of the tanning industry which then occupied the site of the Sandy Creek Wood Manufacturing Company's plant.
Mrs. Potter was born in Massachusetts, removing with her parents to Sandy Creek about 1870. She was one of a family of six children, three sisters, Nettie, wife of W.M. Pruyn, Jennie and Emma have preceded her to the home beyond.
In early life she was married to Orla S. Potter and they made their home in Sandy Creek where Mr. Potter was engaged in business for some years.
About fourteen years ago they removed to Syracuse, building their pleasant home where they have since resided. Mrs. Potter was a member of the Congregational church in this village, a charter member of Lake Ontario Chapter, 0.E.S. also a charter member of the Ladies' Wednesday club. She was a conscientious, lovable woman, a devoted friend, wife and mother.
Besides her husband, she leaves one son, Fred C. Potter, two brothers, Elbridge and Frank, all of Syracuse, Burial in Oakwood, Syracuse-Sandy Creek News
