Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, April 26, 1922 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Melissa Knollin Stewart, second daughter of John and Elizabeth Knollin and wife of Elon C. Stewart, who passed away seventeen years ago, died at her home one and one half miles south of Pulaski, Wednesday, April 19th. Mrs. Stewart was born at Sandy Creek, July 26, 1846. Early in life she gave her heart to Christ and he became to her a counselor and friend whose guidance and love she never doubted but with an increasing faith and unfaltering trust she loved and labored, not for self, but for those who were nearer and dearer to her than her own life. An only son, who was her earthly all in all and who with his devoted wife ministered to and lovingly cared for her through days and nights of intense suffering, are left to mourn with the precious consciousness that their loss is her eternal gain and that she is now with the dear ones who have gone before and of whom she often spoke while she fully realized that the end of her earthly pilgrimage was drawing near. A faithful daughter, a loving sister, a devoted wife, a supremely affectionate mother has joined the "Heavenly Host." We shall meet but we shall miss her. A brother, J. Spencer Knollin of Sandy Creek, and four sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Clark, of Adams; Mrs. L. K. Blodgett, of Lacona; Mrs. Edson Kent, of Sandy Creek and Miss Addie Knollin, of Sandy Creek; with numerous nieces and nephews will ever hold in precious remembrance the faithful and sincere loyalty of her Christian life and character, for as one has said, "The heart is a paradise from which memory refuses to be ejected." Rev. Frederick Maunder, a former pastor, spoke beautiful comforting words to the mourning family and relatives and Mrs. Charles Brooks and Mrs. Silas Holmes rendered two of her favorite hymns. With vernal beauty clothes anew, no more to suffer pain. To sleepless nights a glad adieu, our loss to thee blest gain.
