- Newspaper Obituary - Friday, July 5, 1946 Wilkes-Barre Times Leader - John Hartman, 70, Dies Suddenly - John E. Hartman, 70, of 156 South Washington street, city, died suddenly this morning at 6:30 of a heart attack. Mr. Hartman was a native of this city, and was well known here. He conducted a butcher shop in the East End section for many years. He was a communicant of St. Nicholas Church, and was affiliated with the Holy Name Society of that church. He was also a member of the Wilkes-Barre Aerie of Eagles. Surviving are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Fred Forve, and a son, John L. Hartman, both of this city, two brothers, Louis and Joseph Hartman, both of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. George Becker and Mrs. Frances Weaver, also of Wilkes-Barre. He also leaves two grandchildren. The body has been taken to the McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 South Washington street, from where the funeral will be held.
Newspaper Obituary - July 6, 1946 Wilkes Barre Record - John E. Hartman - Funeral of John E. Hartman, 70, who died of a heart attack yesterday morning at 6:30 at his home, will be held Monday at 10 from the McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 South Washington Street. A requiem mass will be celebrated at 10:30 in St. Nicholas Church and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Mr. Hartman, a native of Wilkes-Barre, conducted a meat market in the East End section for many years. He was a member of St. Nicholas Church and Holy Name Society, and Wilkes-Barre Aerie, FOE. Surviving are his wife, two children: Mrs. Fred Forve and John L., both of Wilkes-Barre, and the following brothers and sisters: Louis and Joseph Hartman, Mrs George Becker and Mrs. Frances Weaver, all of Wilkes-Barre. Two grandchildren also survive.
Newspaper Obituary - Monday, July 8, 1946 Wilkes-Barre Times Leader - Funerals - John E. Hartman - The funeral of John E. Hartman of 156 South Washington street, was held this morning from the McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 South Washington street. Requiem mass was read in St. Nicholas Church by Rev. George Forve, who also pronounced benediction at the grave in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Pallbearers were: Thomas Kinney, Frank Kinney, Joseph Murphy, Frank Weaver, Joseph Miller and Anthony German.
