Ralph W. Snow, 87, Vista, Calif., formerly of Pulaski, died Thursday at Faith Gardens Village, Vista, where he had lived since 1982.
Mr. Snow served as principal representative of the John Ben Snow Foundation in Pulaski from 1962 until 1982.
The funeral is scheduled for today in Vista. A memorial service will be held in Pulaski early in the summer. Burial will be in the family plot in Pulaski Cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter, Valerie Battle, Granada Hills, Calif.; four grandchildren; a brother, Norman, LaSalle, Ill., and a sister, Mary Barke, Whittier, Calif.
Born June 16, 1902, in LaSalle, a son of Fred and Anna Snow, he attended public schools in LaSalle and was graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Ill., in 1930, with a bachelor of arts degree. Mr. Snow also studied for an advanced degree at Northwestern University, Chicago, Ill.
He married Marguerite "Mae" Bramer in 1933. The couple lived in Chicago and Wheaton for 30 years before moving East.
Mr. Snow was employed in the Chicago metropolitan area from 1930 to 1947, holding positions in radio, broadcasting, book publishing and advertising. In 1947, he became assistant dean of men at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, where he was responsible for applications and admissions.
In May 1962, at the prompting of his cousin John Ben Snow several years earlier, Ralph Snow took up residence in Pulaski as principal representative of the John Ben Snow Foundation. He also served as vice president of the Snow Foundation and as the family trustee on the Snow Memorial Trust. In these capacities, Mr. Snow initiated several community projects that have served to improve the quality of life in the Pulaski area. These projects have included the Northern Oswego County Ambulance, Snobelt Community Center, Pulaski Library, Pulaski Historical Society, Northern Oswego County Health Building Inc., the Boy Scouts of America and the Cemetery Association. He also introduced an academic incentive award system and the Snow Scholarship program in the Pulaski public schools.
Mr. Snow was very active in the Greater Pulaski Chamber of Commerce from 1962 to 1982. He was honored by the Boy Scouts of America in 1980 for lifelong support of that organization. Mr. Snow was also cited in June 1982 with the observance of Ralph W. Snow Day in the Village of Pulaski.
Mr. and Mrs. Snow had spent the winters in California. Mrs. Snow died in the winter of 1981, in California. Mr. Snow then left Pulaski in 1982 to make his permanent home in California.
An independent Baptist all his life, he attended several local churches of that denomination.
