    • CARTHAGE - Marsha A. Spencer, 71, of Carthage died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, in the Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she has resided for 21 years. Mrs. Spencer was born in Carthage on April 23, 1939, the daughter of the late Roswell P. and Gladys J. Clark Hewett. She was a graduate of Carthage High School. Mrs. Spencer worked for the former Durkee's Bakery, Carthage for many years. A marriage to James J. Spencer ended in divorce. She was a member of the Singing Needles Sewing Club. She is survived by two daughters: Diana Chaffee of Carthage and Amy Smith of Rochester, two sons: Bruce Spencer of Cape Vincent and Michael Spencer of Syracuse, 12 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren, two sisters: Donna Hoch of Beaver Falls and Linda Weir of Carthage, a brother: Rodney Hewitt of Adams and several nieces and nephews. A son, Timothy Spencer died in 1982 and a brother, Roger Hewitt died previously. Funeral services at tentatively scheduled for Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
