- Newspaper Obituary - Monday, May 10, 1969 Watertown Daily Times - City Woman Dies at 46 - Miss H. Esther Henderson, 46, formerly of 1403 State St., died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday in the House of the Good Samaritan, where she was transferred April 29 from the Jefferson County Extended Care Facility. She had been in poor health most of her life. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Simpson Funeral Home, Rev. Ronald D. Whittenberger, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. F. Pearl Henderson, living at the Jefferson County Home, and a sister, Mrs. John B. (Ruth H.) Smith, Gouverneur. Hope Esther Henderson was born Dec. 10, 1922 in Watertown, daughter of Mrs. Florence Pearl Ives Henderson and the late Ernest J. Henderson. She spent her entire life in the city and attended local schools. When health permitted, she was employed in private homes in the city.
