Richard E. Porter, 54, R.D. 2, Scenic Highway, a carpenter, died Sunday evening at his home. He had suffered from a heart ailment.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Virgil Hager, pastor, officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Oswego County Unit of the American Cancer Society or of the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are with the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth A.; four sons, Richard Jr., Oswego, Robert J. and Eric R., both of Sandy Creek, and Earl D., Lacona; three daughters, Diane Archibee and Denise L. Hall, both of Sandy Creek, and Deborah L. Pearson, Lacona; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Flora Porter, Oswego; two brothers, William, Endicott, and Raymond, Oswego, and a sister, Elizabeth Baker, Lowell, Mass.
Born in Medford, Mass., on July 26, 1934, a son of William and Flora Harvey Porter, he attended Medford High School and served with the Marine Corps from 1952 to 1953.
He married Ruth A. Seymour in June 1956.
Mr. Porter was employed by Carpenters Local 747 of Oswego.
He and his wife lived in Oswego from 1958 until 1970, when they moved to the Town of Sandy Creek.
Mr. Porter was an avid hunter.
