Sprague's Chest Crushed - A Sidney man was killed instantly early this morning when his coupe and a tractor-trailer driven by a Binghamton man were in collision in Route 7, about 600 feet east of the Sidney river bridge. Dead is Howard Carlton Sprague, 38, 2 Liberty Street, of Sidney, who was driving his coupe west in the highway. He was an engineer at Scintilla Division. The driver of the tractor trailer, Howard D. Pettis, 47, of 20 Carmichael Road, Binghamton, R. D. 4 was not injured. Although the fatality is still under investigation Mr. Pettis was released after brief questioning. The coroner's verdict was being withheld pending further investigation. Mr. Sprague's body was removed to the Carr and Landers Funeral Home in Sidney. Funeral arrangements are pending.
