    • Online Obituary - Dorothy J. Barber, 76, of Rome, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010 at Rome Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born April 11, 1933, in Rome, she was a daughter of Harry and Zadie Streun Lighthall. Dorothy attended Oneida schools. On February 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Drake at the First United Methodist Church in Oneida. He died November 16, 1997. She then married George J. Barber on August 14, 1999 in Lee Center. Mr. Barber died August 2, 2006. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rome, the Lee Center Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and a former member of both the Lee Legion Auxiliary and the Lee Unity Seniors. She was predeceased by a daughter, Zadie, a brother, Harry Lighthall Jr. and two sisters, Gladys Joslyn and Marie Winchell. Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Strong and Burns Funeral Home, 401 N. George St., Rome. Interment in West Verona Cemetery.
