Notes - Newspaper Obituary - Sunday, January 3, 1982 Syracuse Herald Journal - Oneida Castle - John W. Conley, 88, 60 Seneca Ave., Oneida Castle, formerly of Sherrill, died Thursday evening in Oneida City Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past seven weeks. He was admitted from the Extended Care Facility of the hospital, where he had been a resident for the last four years. Born in Oriskany Falls on Dec. 7, 1893, he was the son of Richard and Della Thurston Conley. A resident of Oneida Castle for nine years; before his admission to the Extended Care Facility, Conley had resided in Sherrill for many years. He married Gladys Johnston in Syracuse on June 11, 1914. Mrs. Conley died on Dec. 2, 1965. Conley was retired from the Smith-Lee Company Inc. of Oneida. He was a member of the Sherrill Masonic Lodge. Surviving is one son, John M. Conley of Oneida; one daughter, Marjorie Anguish of Oneida Castle; 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. A son, Robert J. Conley, died in August 1976. Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Campbell Dean Funeral Home Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida. The Rev. Richard Geiger will officiate. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today.
