- September 25, 1896 - George N. Butterworth, age 77 years, 2 months, 22 days, Married, Farmer, born in Rhode Island, Son of Hezekiah Butterworth and Betsey Peckham, died in Richland Township of chronic diarrhea and old age.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, September 30, 1896 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - South Richland - Mr. George N. Butterworth died at the home of his son, Mr. L. Butterworth, Friday, September 25th. He had been for some time an invalid but his death was very unexpected, as no one had noticed any change for the worse. He wished to sit up for a while and Mr. Butterworth assisted him to a chair and then left the room to further attend his comforts being absent but a very short time. On returning, Mr. Butterworth was found to be dead. The funeral was held from the Baptist Church on the 28th, Rev. R. A. Burdick officiating. Interment took place at Union Square.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 7, 1896 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Died Butterworth - In South Richland, New York, September 25, 1896, Mr. George Butterworth, aged 77 years. Services were held September 28, in the Baptist church. At the age of seventeen he united with the Baptist church, in Pulaski, upon the profession of his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. He has ever lived a consistent Christian life. He has left the Church Militant and joined the Church Triumphant. He leaves a wife, two brothers, two sisters and many other friends.
