    • Newspaper Obituary - December (Date Unknown) Oswego County Weeklies - Phoenix -- Funeral services for Vernon G.Thompson 79 former Fire Chief 27 years and member since 1903 of the Phoenix Enterprise Fire Department were held Thursday in the Funeral home. Honorary Bearers were Stephen Dunn, Robert Bowman, Adebert Waldron, Worden Chamberlain, James Cook, George Dann, William Gravlin, Robert Reeves, James Smiley, Bert Storrings, Gerald Thompson, Jack Thompson, Ed Wells, and Mike Weiand. Active bearers were Homer Bowman Sr., Homer Bowman Jr., Charles Ruetsch, Francis Kinne, Gerald Parkinson, and John Crowley. Mrs. Margaret Reeves represented the auxiliary of the fire department. The firemen marched in procession to the Phoenix Rural receiving vault where Rev. Weaver offered a prayer.
