    • Online Obituary - Helen J. Jones July 1, 2010 - Helen J. Jones, 89, of Rome, died Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Stonehedge Health and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. She was born February 28, 1921, in Sandy Creek, NY, daughter of Earl W. and Emily Louise Burnham Jamerson. She graduated from Sandy Creek High School and Deibert's Private School, Philadelphia, NY, and Utica School of Commerce. On March 15, 1941, she married Willis J. Jones. He died January 4, 1970. Helen worked as a secretary then bookkeeper for White Laundry in Rome, then worked for Rome Developmental Center, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Bartlett Baptist Church, CSEA, 25 Year Club and the Westlanders Senior Citizens. She is survived by one daughter, Betty L. Reid of Astor, Florida; two sons, William J. Jones of Sandy Creek, NY, and David W. Jones of Rome; five grandchildren, Thomas Jones, David W. Jones Jr., Timothy J. McElheny, Paul W. Reid and Judy Simmons; and nine great grandchildren; a special niece, Mary Jane Ball, Liverpool, NY; and a close friend and angel, Carol Poile of Rome. She was predeceased by a grandson, William Jones. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prince-Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals, Inc., 210 W. Court St., Rome. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Westmoreland. Relatives and friends may call at the home for funerals Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartlett Baptist Church, 5639 Bartlett Road, Rome, NY.
