    • Newspaper Obituary - August 14, 1936 Binhamton Press - Father of 16 Killed - Syracuse, August 14 - Struck by an automobile last night. Ray Seeley, 62, father of 16 children, died while being taken to a hospital.

      Newspaper Obituary - Syracuse Journal Saturday, August 15, 1936 - Death Car Driver Is Given Parole - John Shayes, 230 King st., driver of the automobile that killed Ray Seeley, Thursday night, was paroled after making a statement at police headquarters, and a verdict of accidental death was given by Coroner Winne, Seeley, a municpal stadium watchman on the WPA payroll and father of 16 children, 13 of whom are living, was struck and killed by Shayes' car in Hiawatha Blvd., E. The body was taken to the home, 1623 Spring st., by Burns & O'Brien, funeral directors, Saturday. The funeral will take place at the home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon.

      Newspaper Obituary - Syracuse Herald August 15, 1936 Motor Crash Victim To Be Buried Monday - The funeral of Ray Seeley, 1623 Spring Street, father of 16 children who was fatally injured when he was struck by an automobile in Hiawatha Boulevard, near Spring Street, Thursday, will be conducted from the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. Burton H. Butman, pastor of the First Ward Methodist Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

      Newspaper Obituary - St. Joseph Hospital. John Shayes, 230 King Street, told police that he was driving west in the boulevard when Mr. Seeley stepped into the street ahead of him. He was unable to avoid hitting him, he said. Shayes and his companion, Joseph Polin of 125 Renwick Place, were taken to police headquarters where they made statements. Mr. Seeley had been employed, it is said, at the Municipal Stadium grounds. Mr. Seeley, who died on the 13th of the month, is survived by his wife, 13 of his 16 children and 13 grandchildren. The children are Lawrence of Columbus, O., and Forest, Erwin, Olin, Etta, Raymond, Lester, William, Melvin, Leo, Mrs. Lester Wirth, Mrs. Clarabelle Horr and Mrs. Albert Owen, all of Syracuse. The funeral will be conducted from the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Seeley was a member of First Ward Methodist Episcopal Church. His body will be taken to the home Saturday by Burns & O'Brien, funeral directors.
