      Carl A. Haynes, 73, of Brewerton Road, Mattydale, died Sunday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Syracuse, after a long illness.

      Mr. Haynes was a native of Newark and lived most of his life in the Syracuse area. He was a disabled World War II Army veteran. Prior to 1942, he was a self-employed furniture upholsterer.

      Surviving are two daughters, Star Lynn Thomas of Liverpool and Mary Lou Jamieson of New York City; a son, Carl Raymond of North Syracuse; four sisters, Vernice Hilebrant of Kaysville, Utah, and Dawn Beraman, Carol Buchalla, Linda Fuller, all of Homer; five brothers, Donald, Edgar, Millard, Dale, all of Pulaski, and Jerry of North Syracuse; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

      Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Krueger Funeral Home, Mattydale. Burial will be Collamer Cemetery, Collamer.

      Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 2307 Brewerton Road.

      Contributions may be made to the North Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
