Earl P. Butler, Sr., 74, of Oswego, died February 21, 2007. Born in Lysander, he was a life resident of the Fulton-Oswego area. He retired in 1992 from Monroe Muffler as a store manager for many of the local stores. Earl had previously worked at Pierce Muffler and Goodyear Tire locally. He was an Army Veteran serving in the Korean War and receiving two Purple Hearts for injuries he received during battle. He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post #569, Fulton. Earl was also a member of the American Legion Post # 286 in Oswego and a past governor of the Fulton Moose Lodge # 1280. He was predeceased by a son, James Butler, who died January 5, 2007. Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Patricia Butler of Oswego; two daughters, Patricia Shatrau and Suzanne Burdick both of Volney; two sons, Earl Butler, Jr. of Volney and Michael Butler of Boston, MA; a sister, Lena Aluzzo of Fulton; two step-daughters, Melissa Loomis of Oswego and Heidi Pafumi of Fulton; two step-sons, Charles Haws and Jay Haws both of Oswego; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive guests from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fulton V.F.W., 216 Cayuga Street, Fulton. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, County Route 45, Volney. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has charge of arrangements.
