Notes - Newspaper Obituary - January 28, 1960 Pulaski Democrat - Rites Friday for Mrs. John Bush - Mrs. Deliah Stewart Bush, 82, wife of John Bush, died early Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Howlett, where she had resided the past few months. She had been in ill health since last summer. Funeral services will be held at the Foster Funeral Home Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W. Rogers of Scotia, a former pastor of the Pulaski Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today (Thursday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. D.A.R. services will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. tonight. The grandsons will act as bearers. Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Mrs. William (Lillie) Howlett of Pulaski and Mrs. Wallace (Alice) Hotelling of North Syracuse; a son, Joel Bush of Brea, Calif; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, a niece and a nephew. Mrs. Bush was born June 3, 1877, in the Town of Orwell, the daughter of Joel and Mary Waggoner Stewart. She came to the Spring Brook District with her parents when a young girl, and attended Pulaski Academy from which she graduated in 1896. After graduation from Training Class at the age of 16, she taught school for nine years in rural schools until her marriage to Mr. Bush on Jan 1. 1905. She was married at the Baptist parsonage in Lacona by the Rev. Daly. The first four years of their married life were spent on a farm in Boylston after which they purchased the farm now owned by William VanTassel in the Spring Brook District, where they lived until moving their present home on the Richland Road, about 35 years ago. She was a member of the Pulaski Baptist Church and the Philathea Class, and of Ontario Chapter D. A. R.
Newspaper Obituary - February 4, 1960 Sandy Creek News - Mrs. John Bush Dies at Age 82 - Mrs. Deliah Stewart Bush, 82, of Richland road, Pulaski, died Tuesday evening, January 26, 1960 in the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Howlett, where she has resided several months. Mrs. Bush had been in ill health since last summer. She taught rural schools nine years, starting at 16, till her marriage in 1905. During the first four years, Mr. and Mrs. Bush operated a farm in Boylston when they purchased a farm in the Springbroad district. Mr. Bush was a farmer and cattle dealer. She is survived by her husband, John Bush; two daughters Mrs. Wallace Hotalling, North Syracuse and a son Joel Bush, of Brea Calif; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Services were held at 2pm Friday at the Foster Funeral Home, Pulaski. The Rev. W. R. Rogers, Scriba, former pastor of the Pulaski Church, officiated. Interment will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
