Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, April 6, 1938 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Charles Briggs Filkins, a retired fanner, died at the home of his son, Leon Filkins of Amboy, March 31, 1938. The body was brought here by Paul K. Foster and services were held at the Foster funeral parlors Saturday at 2 o'clock. Services were conducted by the Rev. W. A. Gardner, pastor of the M. E. church. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Mr. Filkins was born February 1, 1866 in the Lehigh district. He was the youngest son of William Henry and Nancy Alzina Ingersoll Filkins who were life-long residents of the town of Richland. On July 3, 1889 he was married to Nettie Robbins of Boylston, who died March 23, 1927. To them were born nine children, Clarence died in 1925. Surviving him are Leon of Amboy; Henry B. of Mexico; Newton of Syracuse; Harold of Frankfort; Mrs. Edith Winks, Central Square; Mrs. Lydia Nichols, Mexico and Mrs. Rose Byington, Memphis. Eighteen grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, one brother, Isaac H. Fillcins, Wilson, Connecticut; two sisters, Mrs. Cora A. Fox and Mrs. B. S. Mickel of Pulaski and several nieces and nephews also survive.
