    • Newspaper Obituary - Friday, April 13, 1956 Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Mrs. Vernon Thompson - Phoenix - Mrs. Leila G. Thompson, 63, for many years active in civic and social groups in this area, died unexpectedly last evening at her home, 8 State St. She had been in failing health about one year. Mrs. Thompson was the wife of Vernon Thompson. Born in Phoenix, July 14, 1890, Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. John C. Dimon; one son, John B. Thompson; three grandchildren, Carl and Mary Jane Dimon and Bruce Thompson, and one niece, Mrs. Earl Moulton of Phoenix. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Phoenix Methodist Church, its W.S.C.S. and North Circle; member and past noble grand of Golden Chain Rebekah Lodge 310, past district deputy president of Oswego County Rebekah District 1, and past president of the Past Noble Grands Association of the district. She also held membership in the Ladies Auxiliary of Patriachs Militant, Fulton, and received the degree of chivalry in that order. She had served as president of the auxiliary of Enterprise Volunteer Fire Company, being affiliated with the fireman's auxiliary of Oswego and Onondaga counties. Mrs. Thompson was interested in the Grange being a member and past lecturer of Phoenix Grange 910. She was a member of Phoenix Memorial Post auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a former officer of Phoenix Council of Church Women. Funeral services will be held at the Hopkins funeral home, Main St., Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John W. Annas, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be in Phoenix Rural cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
