- Newspaper Obituary - Monday, October 24, 1983 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Charles L. Orton, 66, of Main Street, Richland, was found dead at his home Monday afternoon, October 17, 1983. Born June 13, 1917 at Centerville, a son of Lewis and Lillian Joslyn Orton, he attended the Town of Richland district schools. His marriage to Margaret Warren at Sandy Creek in 1943 ended in divorce in 1956. He was employed by the Curtis Furniture Company, Richland several years, retiring due to ill health. Mr. Orton, who had poor eyesight, was an avid CB radio user with the handle, "Buzzard." Local CB radio fans had purchased new equipment for him a few years ago. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Connie Sparks, Titusville, Florida; two granddaughters; a half-brother, Raymond VanBuren, Altmar and three nieces. Funeral services for Mr. Orton were held Thursday, at the Foster-Hax Funeral. Home, Pulaski, with Rev. Gerald Brownell, pastor of the Richland Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Richland Cemetery.
