    • Obituary of Michael J. Porter
      Michael J. Porter, age 73, resident of Mexico for the last 48 years, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday. Michael was born November 16, 1948, in Watertown, the son of Edwin and Helen Porter. He attended Sandy Creek and Pulaski Schools and served in the United States Marines from 1967 to 1969 during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the purple heart. Mike was married to his wife of 50 years, Kathy Reynolds Porter, on July 30, 1971. He was employed by P&C Warehouses for 28 years, retiring in 1993.

      He was a member of the Teamsters Union #317 in Syracuse, and a lifetime member of the Mexico VFW Post # 369. Mike was a combat wounded vet and donated a lot of time and money towards various veteran’s organizations. He loved woodworking and spending time in his garage. His favorite sports teams were the NY Yankees and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed playing golf, especially at Cold Springs in Mannsville. Mike was a devoted husband and father and loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his family.

      Surviving are his wife, Kathy of Mexico, two children, his son, Michael (Jennifer) Porter Jr., of Amsterdam and daughter, Sarah (Joseph) Porter of Pulaski, three grandchildren, Isabella Porter, Benjamin Porter and Devon Porter, siblings, Dennis Dunbar, Timothy, James, Tracy and Kim Sue Harrington. Mike was predeceased by his sisters, Kimberly Ann Harrington and Barbara Jean Shaw.

      Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 19th at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with burial in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

      Celebration of Life following the burial at the Pulaski Fire Hall.
