Newspaper Obituary - Friday, January 28, 2011 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Leon R. Crandall, age 88, life resident of Sandy Pond, passed away Thursday at his home. Leon was born March 22, 1922 in Sandy Creek, the son of Floyd and Clara Dana Crandall. He attended Sandy Creek Schools, and he served in the United States Army. Leon married Margaret Potish on November 24, 1946, she died October 9, 1999. Leon was employed by various construction companies in Oswego County. He also owned F. J. Crandall & Son Well Drilling for 32 years. Leon was a member of Laborer's Local #214 in Oswego for 40 years, the Sandy Creek Methodist Church, and the New York Steam Engine Association in Canandaigua. Surviving, two sons, Leon R. Crandall Jr. and Peter (Joyce) Crandall both of Oswego, one daughter Susan L. Crandall of Sandy Pond, one sister Lillian Sherman of Pulaski, four grandchildren, James, David, Katie and Alex, and three great-grandchildren, Zoey, Bridgett, and Avery. Leon is predeceased by one daughter in-law, Judith Crandall. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, with a spring burial in Daysville Cemetery, Port Ontario. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Friends of Oswego County Hospice Inc. P.O.
