LITTS, Robert E. "Bob" 96, of Pinellas Park, died Monday, Aug. 27., 2012. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Eldridge; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was born in Richland, NY on Dec. 20, 1915. He was the second of three sons of the late Fredrick and Edna (Vanderbilt) Litts. Predeceased by brothers, Donald and Clarence. Bob was a retired independent contractor and he served for 17 years as a volunteer fireman in his hometown of Pulaski, NY. He moved to Florida after a fishing trip to Key West. Fishing, gardening & shuffleboard were Bob's primary recreational interests, in Florida. Bob's father introduced him to the game of competitive shuffleboard and he became an elite player who won first place in many state and national tournaments from 1962 to 1985. He was a six-time winner of the Florida Shuffleboard Master's Championship and he was inducted into the Florida Shuffleboard Hall of Fame in 1974. When Bob was twenty-one, he rode his brand new Indian motorcycle from Buffalo, NY to San Francisco, CA and throughout the northwest. He also traveled extensively in Mexico. Later, he spent several years mushing, traveling by dogsled, around the arctic. He enjoyed telling stories about his western travels and his arctic adventures. Bob's love of life & his friendly and helpful ways will be missed by his family, friends & neighbors. At his request, no services will be held, and ashes will be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico.
