Betty Briggs

Mrs. Clark "Betty" Briggs, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 peacefully at home.
Mrs. Briggs was born in Pulaski, NY, the daughter of Edith (Scriber) and Frederick Gates Mahaffy. She attended Pulaski Academy and Central School, Potsdam State University and graduated from Oswego State University. She was a member of Alpha Delta Sorority.
On September 16, 1944, she was married to Clark E. Briggs in Pulaski. She had taught school in Hannawa Falls and Baldwinsville, NY.
Mrs. Briggs was a member of the New Hartford First United Methodist Church, Faxton-St. Luke's Volunteer Association, the Republican 100,000 Club, the Daughter's of the American Revolution, Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and the New Hartford American Legion Auxiliary. She was a former member of the American Association of University Women, New Hartford Lioness, Women of the Elks, the Masonic Home Auxiliary and the Skenandoa Country Club.
She is survived by her husband, Clark Briggs; one son, Daniel and his wife, Iris; two daughters, Nancy Lillibridge and her husband, David and Patricia Davern and her husband, William; grandchildren, Gregory, Julianna and Emily Lillibridge and Shawn and Matthew Davern.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral service will follow visitation at 4 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Pulaski, NY.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. or the charity of one's choice.
