Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, March 29, 1989 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Eleanor B. Nichols, Mexico, Dies At Age 84 - Eleanor B. Nichols, 84, County Route 58, died Monday at the Hillcrest Nursing Home, Oswego, after a brief illness. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Foster-flax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Earl M. Smith, pastor of Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski, officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ruth D'Emanuele, Mexico; three grandchildren; a great-grandson, and three sisters, Mrs. Arvis Hyde, Altmar, Mrs. Nira Carpenter, Pulaski, and Mrs. Pauline Cornwell, Florida. Born in Sycamore, Illinois, on February 16, 1905, a daughter of Fred and Jenny Hurtt Harmes, she attended school in the Prattham District, near Mexico. She married Ross Nichols in 1926. Mr. Nichols was an auto mechanic in the Mexico area. He died in 1966. Mrs. Nichols lived in Mexico for 75 years. She was employed by several area businesses. She was a 30-year member of Silver Crest Rebekah Lodge 229. She was also a member of Mexico United Methodist Church.
