Kenneth S. Race, 78, of 3329 state Route 69, Parish, died Saturday. Born in Connecticut, he lived most of his life in Parish. He retired as a painter with Local 31 in Syracuse. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart and other decorations.
Survivors: His wife of 49 years, the former Ava Murphy; a daughter, Dolly Race of Parish; two stepsons, Robert Smith of Mallory and Bruce Smith of Central Square; a sister, Mary Nolan of Parish; seven brothers, Charles, David, James and John, all of Parish, Robert of Brewerton, Gerald of Cleveland and Marty of Hannibal; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harter Funeral Home. Burial, private. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 2983 W. Main St., Parish 13131.
