      Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, November 2, 1993 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Viola B. Phelps of Skaneateles Dies at Age 84 - Viola B. Phelps, 84, of Skaneateles, formerly of Pulaski, died Monday at Community-General Hospital, Syracuse. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry, pastor of Park United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. A calling hour will be one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Surviving are a brother, Earl Tanner, Henderson; three grandchildren, Donald Phelps Jr., Marcellus, Donna Fellows, Syracuse, and Nancy Sneed, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and three great-grandchildren. Two sons, Gene and Donald Phelps Sr., died before her. Born January 29, 1909, in Sandy Creek, a daughter of Arbie and Mae Tilkins Tanner, she attended Mannsville District Schools and married Wayne Phelps in 1928. He died in 1948. She lived in Pulaski from 1928 to 1987, when she moved to Skaneateles. She retired in 1972 after 22 years with Crouse-Hinds Company, Syracuse.
