      Laura James, 92, passed away at Menorah Park Sunday night. Born in Parish, NY, she graduated from Pulaski High School. She attended Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and worked at Albany Medical Center, where she specialized in contagious diseases. She returned to Syracuse in 1949 and worked at City Hospital, later Silverman Hospital, until she retired. She worked as a nursing supervisor, assistant Director of Nursing and finally Director of Nurses. She was an avid gardener who supplied friends and family with fruits and vegetables, as well as flowers, and indulged her passion for reading when she retired. She is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Gerry) Ahnert of Syracuse; a sister, Annamae Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial celebration at her home in April. She will be buried with her husband, Richard H. James, at Graceland Cemetery, Albany, NY.
