Holland W. Rood
Holland W. Rood, 88, Englewood, died Dec. 26, 1996.
He was born Nov. 6, 1908, in Parish, N.Y., and came to Englewood 20 years ago from Jacksonville. He was a retired superintendent for Southwestern Central School in Jamestown, N.Y., for 34 years and a professor of engineering at Florida Junior College in Jacksonville. He was a member of Englewood United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Verna; two daughters, Diana Lewellen of Venice and Marybeth Winkelaar of Douglastown, New Brunswick, Canada; five sisters, Orla Skinner and Elnora Rood, both of Pulaski, N.Y., Anna M. Reed of Brooksville, Laura James of Syracuse, N.Y., and Nellie Pearson of Parish; a brother, Charles; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Englewood United Methodist Church. Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood Chapel, is in charge.
