      Newspaper Obituary - Monday, January 28, 1991 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Charles L. Summerville, 79, Dies ¬Charles L. Summerville, 79, of 7461 Maple Avenue, died Sunday morning at Oswego Hospital, where he was taken after being stricken at his home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Betsy Mowry officiating. Spring burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood, with full military honors. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 this evening 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Summerville Funeral Home, 8192 IIarwood Drive, Sandy Creek, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 tonight. Contributions may be made to Cable Trail Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8534, Lacona, the Robert Edwards American Legion Post 358, Pulaski, or the American Heart Association. Surviving are his wife, Reta; a son, Charles L. Jr., Sandy Creek; four daughters, Mrs. Samuel (Shirley) Blais, Liverpool, Patricia VanNort, North Syracuse, Mrs. Francis (Charlotte) DeGaetano, Pulaski, and Mrs. Roger (Carol) Clark, Orwell; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward, Oswego; a sister, Mrs. John (Sarah) Casler, Rome, and several nephews and nieces. Born in Granby on June 17, 1911, a son of Lee and Anna Loveland Summerville, he attended Oswego schools. He married Reta G. Tremaine on January 13, 1934, at Trinity Methodist Church, Oswego. The couple moved to Pulaski in 1941. Mr. Summerville served with the Navy during World War II. He was employed with General Electric Corp., Syracuse, as a tool and dye maker until his retirement in 1973, after 23 years of service. He was voting machine custodian for the town of Richland for the past 31 years and court attendant for Oswego County Supreme Court. He was a trustee on the Pulaski Village Board for 15 years, held various commissioner positions and served on the former Pulaski Planning Boards. He was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Lake City Lodge 127 F&AM, Oswego, Pulaski Chapter 279 Royal Arch Masons and Lake Ontario Commandery 32 Knights Templar, Fulton. He was a life member and past commander of Robert Edwards American Legion Post 358, Pulaski, and Cable Trail Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8534, Lacona. He was also past Oswego County commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, past national deputy chief of staff for the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the State of New York, member and past monarch of Oswego Whango Grotto, member and past patron of Pulaski Chapter 159 Order of the Eastern Star, past district grand lecturer for the Oswego District Order of the Eastern Star, retired member and past president of Ringgold Volunteer Fire Department, Pulaski, and a past member of Northern Oswego County Ambulance, Pulaski.
