      Stanley R. West, 78, of 203 Libby St., Liverpool, a native of Watertown, died Saturday at his home after a long illness.

      Mr. West was a self-employed watchmaker for more than 50 years.

      Born Jan. 7, 1918, in Watertown, son of Hiram and Katherine Bush West, he was a graduate of Sandy Creek High School, and lived in Syracuse before moving to Liverpool.

      He was a 40-year member of Liverpool Masonic Lodge 525, and a member of the Tigris Shrine and past patron of Fralick Chapter 550 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Liverpool.

      Surviving are his wife, the former Betty Barbery; a daughter, Sharon Hyde, Liverpool; two sisters, Lillian Pattes, Richland, and Genevieve Daniels, Cicero; a brother, Lamont, Wanatcha, Wash,; two grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

      The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Maurer Funeral Home, Liverpool. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.

      Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

      Donations may be made to Shriners Hospital, care of the Tigris Shrine.
