- Newspaper Obituary - February 1, 2017Watertown Daily Times - Robert S. Groff, Jr. of Silver Springs, FL and Mannsville, NY passed away on January 7, 2017 at his home. Robert was born July 11, 1949 to Robert S. and Jeanette L. Groff (both deceased) in Watertown, NY. He attended several schools and graduated from Belleville Central School in 1968. Robert was in the Marine Corps from 1969 to 1970. Robert worked for several phone companies in upstate New York and in Florida. He also worked as an electrician and as an electrical inspector before retiring. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and traveling. Robert is survived by his wife of four years, Jean (Baker) Groff; a son and daughter-in-law Roland and Melissa Groff of Pulaski, New York; two step-daughters - Christine and Craig Proper of Carlisle, PA and Deborah and Sandy Lamb of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; seven siblings -Brian and Robin Groff, Della and Stanley Loomis, Brenda Hall, Cindy Kingsley, all of Mannsville, NY; Karen and Richard Remington of Ellisburg, NY; Donna and Charles Young of Henderson, NY; and Rosalind and Timothy Redden of Sandy Creek, NY. One sister, Teresa Briggs predeceased him. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A spring burial will be held at the family's convenience.
