    • Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, December 1, 1949 Pulaski Democrat - Gas Fumes Fatal To W.B. Stenson - Ward Beecher Stenson, 73, died at his home in Salina street Sunday morning from asphyxiation. His body was discovered by his daughter in law, Mrs. Carl Stenson, when she called on him shortly after noon. Dr. Frederick Loomis was called, who acting as coroner's physician at the direction of District Attorney James C. Feeney, gave a verdict of accidental death due to asphyxiation. Investigation by Trooper Robert F. Barry, BCI, revealed a small gas water heater had been burning low. A tin can placed over the vent, had apparently shut off the supply of oxygen, causing the flame to go out, but gas was pouring from the jet. Mr. Stenson's pet dog was also found dead besides his bed. Funeral services were held from the Foster funeral home in Park Street, Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. James N. Pauley, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment will be made in Richland cemetery.
