- Newspaper Obituary - February 19, 1945 Rome Sentinel - Rome, New York - Harry Doolittle Dies After Short Illness - Harry Doolittle sr., 56, 738 Calvert St., died Sunday morning in a Rome hospital after a two-day illness. He had been a machinist at the Rome Army Air Field. He was born in Richfield Springs Aug. 8, 1888, son of the late William and Lucretia Smith Doolittle. On May 27, 1927, he married the former Miss Florence Paddock in Rome. He received his education in the Richfield Springs schools and had lived in Rome since 1910. He was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. Surviving besides his wife are: three sons, William W. Doolittle, Niagara Falls; Howard M. and Harry Doolittle jr., Rome; two step - daughters, Mrs. Mildred Burke, Oriskany, and Mrs. Bertha Henecke, Phelps; one brother, Melvin Doolittle, Jordanville; 19 grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew.
