    • Online Obituary - Ithaca Journal - Ithaca, New York - Stewart, Aletha McConnell - Aletha McConnell Stewart, 87 of Marathon, NY passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Born on September 14, 1928 in Three Mile Bay, NY, she is the youngest daughter of Frederick and Edith Calhoun McConnell. She graduated from Pulaski Academy in 1946. She met and subsequently married Howard Stewart on July 12, 1947. They moved to Marathon in October 1958 and raised their family together until Howard's death on September 17, 1967. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her parents and an infant granddaughter, Sydney Marie Stewart. She is also predeceased by her 8 brothers and her 7 sisters. Aletha is survived by her children: Connie Mastronardi (Angelo), Freeville, NY; Donna Hall (Gene), Whitney Point, NY; Deborah Waltz, Penny Roberts, both of Marathon, NY; Howard (Chip) Stewart (Patricia) and Gerry Stewart both of Cortland, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robin Voltz, Tracey Mastronardi, Jill Knout, Lesley Waltz and Ryan Monroe, Joshua and Aliyah Roberts, as well as her great grandchildren, Alesha, Jordan and Breanna Voltz, Madison and Hannah Knout and Tristan Waltz and Rowan Hollenbeck. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at A.C. Baker Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Marathon, New York 1803. Burial will follow in Marathon Cemetery. Friends of the family may call Wednesday 11:00am until the time of service at the funeral home.
