- FLEMING - Margaret E. (Vreeland) Janas, 67, of Stone School Road, Fleming passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon March 15, 2017 at the Westchester Medical Center, awaiting a heart transplant, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Auburn on April 10, 1949, the daughter of the late Floyd and Elizabeth Shortsleeve Vreeland and had been a life resident. She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Margaret was extremely devoted to her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She always had delicious cookies on the counter, dinner in the oven and sauce on the stove. Margaret loved to sew, craft, quilt, paint and draw. She previously worked at Auburn Wire, Hillcrest Dairy, Juno Glass, Janas Trenching, Janas Farms, and was most proud of being employed as a skilled seamstress at MacKenzie Childs in Aurora. Margaret was a proud member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and LICA (Land Improvement Contractors of America), where she had the distinct honor of being selected as the LICA wife of the year, a former Brownie leader and was very passionate about researching her genealogy. Margaret enjoyed many things, but her 'true" love was her family. She will be sadly missed but will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Michael Janas of Fleming; five children: daughters Robin (Frank) McKay, Jennifer Janas and Sarah (Jason) Leszczynski; twin sons Benjamin (Sara) Janas and Frank (Jacqueline) Janas; and grandchildren Peter, Natalie, Nathan, Sarah Grace, Joshua, Emily, Jack, Mariska, Anna, Grace, Jarek and Elias. In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her son Michael 'Freddie' Jr. in November of 2015, brothers Neil and George Vreeland, and sisters Bonnie and June Miller.
