- Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, February 8, 1969 - The Citizen Advertiser - Auburn, New York - Floyd Vreeland dies in hospital - Floyd G. Vreeland, 56, of Town Hall Road, Owasco, died Friday afternoon in Mercy Hospital. A native of Augusta Center, he was employed as a truck driver for the Town of Owasco for 18 years, and he was formerly employed at the Auburn Button Works as a grader operator. He was a member of the CSEA, Cayuga County Chapter. Surviving are his widow, Elizabeth Shortsleeve Vreeland; two sons, George of Auburn and Neil Vreeland of Owasco; six daughters, Mrs. Ralph Parsons of Sennett, Mrs. John Miller and Mrs. Edward Church of Owasco, Mrs. Peter Kowel Jr. of Auburn, Mrs. Roger Corgnell of Owasco and Mrs. Michael Janas of Fleming; his mother, Mrs. Mary Beardsley of Auburn; a half-brother, Duane Beardsley of Auburn; two half-sisters, Mrs. Paul Friends and Mrs. William McLean, both of Auburn; 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Brew Funeral Home and burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 48 South St., from 7 to 9 tongith and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
