- CHARLES D. DAVIS DIES AT AGE 54

Ellisburg Mayor Charles D. Davis, 54, died at 1:20 a.m. today at his home on North Main Street. He had been ill with cancer.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with the Rev. William Harkins, pastor of the Ellisburg United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ellisburg Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County Inc.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy M.; three daughters, Karen Davis-Zehr, Pierrepont Manor, Kelly Davis, Ellisburg, and Kristine Davis-Richter, Adams; three grandsons; his father, Dennis Davis, Ellisburg; a sister, Joyce Davis, Ellisburg; a brother, Omar Davis, Pulaski; nieces and nephews.
A sister, Beverly Porter, died in 1979.
Born Jan. 29, 1938, in Pulaski, son of Dennis and Ella Loomis Davis, he attended Belleville Central School and married Nancy M. Sprague Oct. 10, 1959, in Ellisburg United Methodist Church.
Mr. Davis was employed by the Roe Feed Co. in Woodville from 1958 to 1966 and by the town of Ellisburg Highway Department from 1966 until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Ellisburg Fire Department, the Ellisburg Library board, and was trustee for the village of Ellisburg for 10 years. He had been mayor of the village of Ellisburg for the past eight years.
