Wife of Charles Sumner Crank (married July 25, 1894) & Christopher Backus (married 1937.) [Note: Christopher Backus died in September 1955 at Star Lake, St Lawrence County, New York, place of burial is unknown.]
      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, June 11, 1942 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Richland Native Dies at Star Lake - Mrs. Francis DeLawyer Croak Backus, 63, wife of Christopher Backus, Star Lake, died at her home there, Thursday afternoon, following an illness of about a year. Surviving besides her husband are 12 children, all by her first marriage, including Mrs. Rose Babcock, Mexico; Mrs. Jesse LaBolt, Phoenix; Kenneth Cronk, Pulaski; two sisters, Mrs. Thea Fraser and Mrs. Mary Eddy, both of this village; 37 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren Three step-children also survive. She married Charles Cronk, Richland, in 1901, who died in 1936. She married Mr. Backus in 1937. She was born Richland in 1879, where she resided until 1920. Funeral services were held at the Star Lake home, Sunday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock, and burial will be in Richland cemetery.
