- Newspaper Obituary - November 12, 1964 Sandy Creek News - Mattison, 82 Was Swiss Native - Mrs. Anna Obrist Mattison, 82, widow of George Mattison, died Nov. 5, 1964 at her home near Altmar following a long illness. The funeral was Saturday at 2 p. m. at St. John's Episcopal church, Altmar. Rev. Arthur Harrington, rector of St. James church, Pulaski, officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Otto (Frances) Hoenow, Pulaski, and Mrs. Earl (Alice) Potter, Richland; two sons, Albert and Samuel, both of Richland; a sister, Mrs. Earl Tanner, Albany; two brothers, John Obrist, Syracuse, and Herman Obrist, Utica; 15 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Mattison was born in Switzerland Dec. 6, 1881, a daughter of John and Mary Obrist. The family came to this country when she was one year old, and settled in the Altmar area. In 1912 she was married to George Chapman Mattison. He died Sept. 6, 1931. She was a member of St. John's church, Altmar, and the grange.
