Ruth D. Peters, 69, of Timber Trail, Adams Center, died Saturday at Claxton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg.
Mrs. Peters was born January 31, 1942, in the Town of Ellisburg, one of 15 children of Frank and Mabel (Hess) Towles. She was a graduate of Union Academy in Belleville and had worked for Woolworth's, Newberry's and Knapp Hardware before retiring in 2004 as a seamstress at Venus Manufacturing in Dexter. Mrs. Peters was a member of the Brownville American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the Rodman Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
She married Bernard C. Peters December 31, 1960. Mr. Peters died August 30, 2004.
Surviving are her companion Joseph Meyers, Morristown, three daughters Robin Peters, CA, Brenda Blount and her husband Wayne, Watertown, Jennifer Peters, Adams Center and a son and his wife Todd and Amy Peters, Adams, four grandchildren Logan and Lyndsey Blount and Erin and Alexander Peters, three sisters and three brothers, Ruby, Don, Allen, Shirley, Raymond, Rosemary and a niece Paula Cobb. She is predeceased by her siblings Francis, Alfred, Iva, Eva, John Henry, Bert, Ralph and Ronald.
Calling Hours will be Thursday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the Carpenter Stoodley Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow at the Adams State Road Cemetery, Honeyville, Rev. Thomas Hood of the Adams Center Baptist Church officiating.
