- Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, August 26, 1896 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Martha Janet Farmer - At her home near Pulaski, August 13, 1896, at 8 p.m. died Martha Janet Farmer, oldest daughter of James S. and Mary J. Farmer. She was born April 11, 1854 near the place of her late residence. Her life has been unselfishly devoted to the interest of her parents, brothers and sisters. Following the occupation of dressmaker she made many dear friends by her unostentatious ways and careful attention to duty. She will be sincerely missed by her family, friends and patrons. Almost a constant sufferer from childhood, she was stricken with the sickness that finally overcame her, soon after the death of her mother in October. She has borne the ten months of constant suffering with Christian fortitude and surely is deserving of a bright reward. All that doctors and care could do was done but without avail, and it was only a question of time. A postmortem examination revealed fatty degeneration of the heart as the cause of her death. The funeral was held Sunday, August 16 at 2 p.m., Rev. A. D. Webster officiating. The burial took place at Pulaski cemetery.
