- ELLA E. DAVIS, STRICKEN AT HOME, DIES

Ella E. Davis, 73, Eisenhower Road, wife of Dennis E. Davis, was pronounced dead on arrival Sunday morning at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, after being stricken at home.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with the Rev. William Sammons officiating. Burial will be in Ellisburg Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Mannsville-Manor Rescue Squad or the Ellisburg Cemetery Association.
Besides her husband, surviving are two sons, Charles D., Ellisburg, and Omar A., Fernwood; a daughter, Joyce Ann Davis, Ellisburg; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Loomis, Fulton, and John Loomis, West Haven, Conn.; three sisters, Irene Hazelton, Adams Center, Doreen Hall, Liverpool, and Lena Beyer, Lowville; nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Beverly Porter, died before her.
Born April 26, 1917, in Lorraine, the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth Tennant Loomis, she was one 17 children and attended Wardwell Settlement School and the Ellisburg school.
She married Dennis E. Davis in 1933 in Mexico. They lived in Mexico for a short time before moving to Ellisburg, where they lived for the past 50 years.
Mrs. Davis was employed by various companies in Watertown, including Gibson's Laundry, Olga Knitting Mill, Model Homes and was last employed by Chesebrough-Pond Inc. for 12 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the Ellisburg Firemen's Auxiliary and Ellisburg Willing Workers.
