Robert L. Turner, 73, Horan Road, Solvay, a native of Pulaski, died Saturday at Community-General Hospital, Syracuse, after a long illness.
Mr. Turner was a safety officer with the state of New Tork, retiring in 1983 after 25 years of service.
Born May 23, 1923, in Pulaski, son of Frank and Ethel Turner, he was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Benham. He lived in the Syracuse area for more than 40 years.
A member of Solvay United Methodist Church and Altmar Church, he was a life member of Pulaski Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Tipperary Hill American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret "Marge"; a stepdaughter, Cindy Newton, Camillus; a stepson, Douglas Newton, Camillus; a brother, Francis Turner, North Syracuse; three sisters, Charlotte Turner, Pulaski, Janet Stamps, Williamstown, and Doris Beach, Sackets Harbor, and two grandchildren.
A military funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Giminski-Wysocki Funeral Home, Syracuse, and at 11 a.m. in Solvay United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
