John H. Bertges Sr., 47, of 32 Church St., died of heart disease Sunday at his home.
Mr. Bertges retired in 1991 as a sergeant first class in the Army after 20 years of service and moved to Pulaski six years ago. He had been stationed in Fort Riley, Kan., Japan and Germany and served in the Gulf War. For the past four years, he had worked for J.C. Smith Construction Co., Syracuse.
Born Jan. 17, 1951, in Erie, Pa., son of Charles and Dorothy Potratz Bertges, he married Sandra Tryon on Feb. 20, 1972.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, John Jr., Pulaski; two daughters, Joanne Miller, Concord, N.C., and Jamie Bertges, Pulaski; a brother, David, Pennsylvania, and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek.
